Minnesota Raptor Center Display
11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Raptor education specialists from the St. Paul, MN Raptor Center will display a live bald eagle and two other raptors (hawk, owl, or falcon. Display will be in the pines just outside the visitor center.
Activities and events organized for all weather conditions.
Guided bus tours of the refuge
10 a,m., 12 p.m., 2 p.m.
Bus tours will feature the habitat management for threatened and endangered wildlife. Participants will ride with a biologist to learn the secrets of bringing back these wild treasures. Tours leave from the Refuge Maintenance Shop just east of the visitor center.
Fire, Food, & Feathers
Maintenance Shop Area: See a refuge fire truck, get your picture taken in a fire uniform, and learn how the refuge uses fire to manage habitat. You can also shop among nature craft vendors, take a bird quiz, or participate in a children’s trumpeter swan activity.

Visitor Center Events
In addition to the visitor center museum, nature trail, and gift shop, you can learn about wolves and Minnesota’s wolf populations, pick up a free wolf poster, sample wild edibles, and browse the 2007 photo contest winning images.
Food, snacks, and beverages available
A sandwich plate of a quarter-pound pork loin, chips, and beverage will be available for $5. Other snacks and beverages also sold. Proceeds benefit refuge activities.
Tamarac Interpretive Association Raffle
Help TIA support the refuge by buying a $5 raffle ticket. First prize framed Carl Bender Wolf print. Drawing October 6.
Tamarac Wildlife Gifts and Bookstore
Stocked with a wide selection of clothing, cards, books, bird feeders, bird houses, stuffed animals, mugs, Native American art, unique food products, CDs, candles, and much, much more. All proceeds benefit refuge activities.
Location:
Activities start at the Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center located at the junction of Highway 29 & 26: nine miles north of Highway 34 or 15 miles east of Highway 59 on Highway 26. Primary event parking will be available at the Refuge Maintenance Shop east of the visitor center.
