Bird Festival Scheduled
for May 18-21
It’s the best in the state and right in your backyard. The 9th annual Festival of Birds will feature invigorating fieldtrips, fascinating workshops and entertaining speakers. We've got some new programs in store that go beyond birding.
The line up includes a pond stroll identifying frogs and toads, a batty evening with humorist Al Batt, and a trek out to see the bats of the night. There will be new information on the search for the Ivory Billed Woodpecker, and a close look at the woodpeckers of Minnesota. From an introductory fieldtrip for beginners on Thursday to a serious look at prairie birds on Sunday, you're sure to find a trip or two you just can't miss.
Fieldtrips will take you to Tamarac and Hamden National Wildlife Refuges, Maplewood and Itasca State Parks. We’ll wade through the prairies of Felton, Ulen and Rothsay. We'll even be netting and banding birds at Buffalo River. Saturday will be the birders' bazaar, along with workshops, and, in the evening, a witty Play on Birds by Sharon Stiteler and her husband Bill.
