Photography Contest

The Tamarac NWR Photo Contest (2018 First Place Photos) recognizes outstanding amateur photography that showcases the wildlife, plant life, and natural beauty of the refuge. (List of Winning Photos) Nature photography is one of the important public uses of our national wildlife refuges. Contest categories include wildlife, plant life, scenic, natural abstracts, and recreation. All submitted photos are displayed at the annual Fall Festival and at the Washington Square Mall in Detroit Lakes during National Wildlife Refuge Week. The annual photo contest is sponsored by the Friends of Tamarac.
