Auto Tour Stop #2: Refuge Wetlands Wetlands of various types comprise nearly 18,000 acres of refuge. Marshes like these are home to beaver and muskrat, whose homes are both evident in this area. These habitats also offer protective cover and abundant food for broods of ducklings. In recent years, a pair of bald eagles have nested in the large red pine across the marsh to your left. Look for the next contructed of large sticks. The birds will probably be present only during the spring and early summer months.
