| Auto Tour Stop #6: The Tamarac . The scrubby looking evergreens in the peat bog to your right are tamarack trees, the only conifer in Minnesota which turns gold and drops its needles each fall. Despite its dense, hard wood, many tamaracks fall prey to porcupines which have a fondness for the tree's inner bark. |
