Celebrate the changing seasons at Tamarac! We will have a reading and book signing by Ojibwe Ojibwe Author Travis Zimmerman of his book, How The Birds Got Their Songs, a demonstration of traditional Anishinaabe wild rice processing, kids crafts and family games for all ages, and more!

About the event

At 1 & 3 PM Ojibwe author Travis Zimmerman will be presenting and reading his book, How The Birds Got Their Songs, he will also be signing books. You can take a short hike and learn the songs of the birds. Ojibwe members of the White Earth Nation will be demonstrating wild rice harvest and processing. Stop in the visitor center to taste this traditional wild rice. Wild rice and wild rice soups will be available for purchase. Try your hand at a compass migration, follow clues to see if you can migrate as well as a bird. There will be a kids craft station in the Discovery Center and a wild rice game along the Discovery Trail. Don't miss this beautiful day to kick through the leaves and enjoy the splendor of Fall.
