On June 4, 2025, Friends of Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge (FOT) was presented a $32,060 check from the Subaru Share the Love® event at R&G Subaru in Detroit Lakes.
FOT board members, program volunteers, and FOT staff were on hand to thank R&G Subaru Owners Drew Larson and Matt Field, and Sales Manager Justin Buschette for nominating us as their Hometown Charity. Because of Subaru's incredible generosity, the Friends of Tamarac can continue our vital mission of bringing the magic of outdoor education to hundreds of local school children every year. The donation ensures that countless young minds will have the irreplaceable opportunity to explore, learn, and grow through hands-on engagement with our environment, experiencing its wonders through every season. Subaru gets it: It’s not merely about teaching facts; it's about igniting curiosity, fostering a lifelong love for the outdoors, and instilling a deep sense of environmental stewardship that will echo for generations to come.
We are truly thankful for Subaru’s dedication to youth education and the intrinsic value of connecting children with nature.
In 2024, the Friends of Tamarac was selected as R&G Subaru’s Hometown Charity for the 2024 Subaru Share the Love® event. From the middle of November 21 to January 2, 2025, proceeds from every new vehicle sold or leased by Subaru and R&G Subaru was donated to the purchaser’s choice of participating charities and FOT. According to their website, Subaru says over the last 18 years, through the Subaru Share the Love® Event, Subaru and our participating retailers have donated nearly $320 million to charity, with customers choosing between four national charities and over 2,700 hometown charities.
