Congratulations Dr. Bill Henke!

Bill has worn many hats at Tamarac Refuge. He has been a part of the environmental education team for many years, sharing skills with youngsters that come naturally and even introducing new programs that teach important ecological concepts. They have planted trees, participated in wildlife surveys, and helped pick up litter on cleanup days. This volunteer has raked up the Chippewa picnic area several times in the spring, scored many silent auction items for fundraisers, and recruited new volunteers to the refuge. His passion for sharing outdoor skills and nature with youth shines. He is also a believer in providing nature experiences to everyone regardless of physical or cognitive ability. He has worked hard to include many partners, perspectives, and strives to create inclusive programs in all that he is involved in on the refuge and beyond. Given his work life career you wouldn’t be surprised that when we put together ice fishing kits he insisted on adding forceps in lieu of just any old pliers for fish hook removals.
He has served as President of the Friends group for many years and continues to be a steadfast advocate for not only Tamarac Refuge but all national wildlife refuges. Thank you Dr. Bill Henke!
