Friends of Tamarac (FOT) Office/Gift Shop Manager Job Description
Status: Part-time, 25 hours per week
(3 days- 7 hour shifts with two 15-minute paid breaks when in-house and 4 hours per week- remote and/or events and meetings)
Reports to: President, alternatively Past President and Vice-President
Wage: $14.00-$18.00/hour, depending on qualifications
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Become knowledgeable and maintain knowledge of FOT and Refuge mission, vision, values, goals, programs, projects and people; maintain refuge volunteer status.
- Maintain and prepare FOT electronic and hard copy files, create and maintain membership records and documents.
- FOT marketing and promotion duties: access and support donor/membership base, assist with recruitment and coordination of FOT members and FOT/Refuge volunteers, maintain and prepare fundraising, marketing and promotional materials, as needed.
- Facilitate and keep current ongoing publicity for FOT, i.e.: radio, TV, newspapers, web, social media, etc.
- Support FOT fundraising efforts, grow community partnerships, discover grant opportunities, write grants and/or assist with grant writing.
- Manage all gift shop business operations; including but not limited to: revenue and expenses. Serve as a buyer, manage inventory and handle merchandising and marketing. Train volunteers in the sales aspect of hosting. Assist with recruiting volunteer hosts. Implement gift shop policies and procedures, as needed.
- Attend FOT board meetings, prepare and present monthly reports of office manager and gift shop activity.
- FOT property manager.
- Support FOT environmental education program.
- Provide input and coordination for FOT newsletter, as necessary.
- Wear refuge or FOT logo apparel.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Minnesota Driver’s License
- Successfully pass a pre-employment background check
- General office skills; including, but not limited to:
phone, mailings, filing, AR/AP, membership records and retention
organization - Ccomputer operation:
MS Office,internet usage,social media,e-mail - Communication skills
writing, public speaking, listening, visual design skills - Outgoing, friendly and professional demeanor
- Creativity
- Multi-tasking abilities, detail oriented with proven ability to organize and prioritize work while meeting critical deadlines
- Willingness to learn, team player, positive attitude, enthusiasm and commitment to FOT and Refuge mission, vision and values
- Ability to work independently, self-motivated
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or 2-year Associates Degree in Office Administration or related field
- Previous experience with bookkeeping or other accounting duties
- Previous experience with non-profit organizations
- Familiarity with National Wildlife Refuge System, Refuge Friends Groups and/or environmental conservation work
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk ¼ mile on uneven terrain
- Ability to access a 2nd level floor by means of stairs
- Ability to lift, push, pull and carry up to 30 pounds
