Visitor Center is closed – effective Oct. 4 2021

The Visitor Center is closed due to high level of COVID-19 community transmission in this county fueled by the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant. The safety of Tamarac Refuge volunteers, staff, and visitors is of the utmost importance. The Fish and Wildlife Service continues to keep public lands, buildings and facilities open to the maximum extent possible while prioritizing human health and safety.  We will have the gates open for access to the Discovery Center trails during daytime hours and will keep portable toilets available in the visitor center parking lot through the end of October.
We continue to encourage visitors to recreate responsibly: Your public lands are shared treasures. Help keep everyone safe during the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond by following public health guidelines on public lands.  Masks are not required outdoors, however social distancing 6 feet is encouraged.
