The Far Reaching Impacts of the US Government Shutdown

The US Government shutdown has directly and indirectly affected operations for both Tamarac and Hamden Slough National Wildlife Refuges. Many employees have been furloughed and the Visitor Center is closed.  Numerous outdoor learning experiences, programs delivered by volunteers, are also threatened. These programs are vital for engaging children with nature and teaching about conservation in a critical period of time in our country.

The Friends of Tamarac board has written a letter for public distribution to encourage lawmakers to re-open affected agencies. Please let your representatives know of your concerns.
